Expert for sustainability and leadership in tourism

Andreas Koch is one of Germany’s leading experts on sustainable tourism. For over 25 years, he has been passionately dedicated to understanding sustainability as a success factor and business model in the tourism sector. His extensive industry experience in various key roles has been instrumental in shaping the tourism industry.

As a successful sustainability and quality manager at TUI Deutschland, he combined quality and sustainability into a guiding principle of the company and led TUI to one of the highest environmental certifications. As founder and long-standing chairman of Futouris e.V., Germany’s largest sustainability initiative, he promoted cooperation between competitors as joint advocates of a cooperative sustainability strategy.

He has been the founder of bluecontec GmbH since 2012 and has since helped numerous destinations and over 300 hotels to recognize and integrate sustainability as the key to success. Its project partners include Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Sylt, Rügen and Crete. Lanzarote and Mauritius.

For Koch, inspiring presentations and training sessions are not just a question of professional expertise, but above all of inspiring people within organizations. By founding Tourythm during the coronavirus crisis, he set an example for learning and adapting in times of crisis in order to make tourism future-proof and more resilient.

ANDREAS KOCH'S UNDERSTANDING OF SUSTAINABILITY

For Andreas Koch, sustainability is less a concept or a utopia than a fundamental attitude and way of life. He sees the active and conscious implementation of this attitude as the key to positive relationships – with oneself, the team, suppliers, guests and ultimately the entire planet.

Shaping the future: Koch’s approach is to think together and network in order to shape the future for everyone. It sees employees as ambassadors, suppliers as partners for authentic experiences and tourism products as services that serve not only the guests, but also the local communities and the planet. He openly shares the know-how he has gained in his network in order to establish the new rhythm of tourism – tourythm.
